In
order to ensure 24 hr electricity supply to the campus
the University has installed two diesel generating sets,
one of 315 KVA and the other of 90 KVA capacity. Having
ensured the availability of continuous power supply,
the University has gone for high technological systems
and sophisticated laboratories. |

Keeping
in view the dire needs of the university to have continuous
electrical supply and to avoid the frequent power cuts,
the University is laying great importance to use solar
energy. Already the University has got installed two
5KW Solar-Wind Energy Hybrid Systems
with 75% subsidy from Ministry of New and Renewable
Energy (MNRE), Government of India. The systems will
ensure uninterrupted power supply for tube lights, fans
and computers.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has
also approved 50% subsidy for the installation of 60
KW SPV Solar Roof Top System for the university. It
is being installed and commissioned through Punjab Energy
Development Agency (PEDA) with a total estimated cost
of Rs. 150 lacs. |

The
Central University of Punjab is environment friendly.
All the street lights in its 35 acre city campus are
on solar cells. |

University
have a modern video conferencing facility (Polycom)
through which delegates from 3 different locations across
the world can concurrently exchange video and audio.
This facility will make it possible for the CUPB community
to participate in national/international conferences,
training programs and so on, and students can attend
lectures offered by outstation teachers.

The
university has installed a Biometric attendance system
for staff members. It uses a fingerprint recognition
system to verify a staff member's identity and records
the time-in and time-out along with all other required
details. |
